About the EX5

The Geely EX5 is a family-sized electric SUV, 4.615 m long, and was the first Geely to go on sale in the UK. There are now four trims: SE (£31,990), Pro (£33,990), Max (£36,990) and Ultra (£38,990). Even the SE has a 360-degree camera, heated seats and steering wheel, and wireless Apple CarPlay.

## Battery, range and charging

The EX5 uses Geely's lithium iron phosphate 'Short Blade' battery. The SE has a 60.2 kWh usable pack and a WLTP range of 267 miles. Higher trims get 68.4 kWh and up to 280 miles. There is 11 kW AC charging, and DC rapid charging takes about 20 minutes from 30% to 80%. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) is standard, so the car can power appliances.

## Performance and driving

Every version uses a single 218 PS motor driving the front wheels, giving 0–62 mph in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 109 mph. The suspension uses MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear, and the turning circle is a tidy 10.8 metres.

## Interior and space

The boot holds 461 litres, or 1,877 litres with the 60/40 rear seats folded. The rear backrests adjust for angle, and there is a storage drawer under the rear seat. Higher trims add a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, ventilated and massaging front seats, and a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system with speakers in the headrests.

## Technology and safety

A 15.4-inch touchscreen runs the Flyme Auto system, alongside a 10.2-inch instrument display and over-the-air updates. Higher trims add a head-up display. Standard driver aids include adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic braking and evasive steering assist. The EX5 has a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

## Who is it for?

Families who want a big-boot electric SUV with plenty of kit at a mid-market price. Rivals include the Kia EV5, MG S5 EV and BYD Atto 3.
