About the Cyberster
The Cyberster is MG's return to the open-top sports car: an electric two-seat roadster with scissor doors and a fully electric fabric hood. It is MG's flagship in the UK, offered as the rear-drive Single Motor from £55,245 or the more powerful all-wheel-drive Dual Motor.
## Battery, range and charging
Both versions use a 77 kWh battery. The Single Motor is rated at up to 316 miles on the WLTP cycle and the Dual Motor at 276 miles – long enough for a proper weekend tour. Rapid charging peaks at 150 kW, giving 10–80% in about 38 minutes, while a 7 kW wallbox needs roughly 12 hours for a full charge.
## Performance and driving
The Single Motor has 250 kW and reaches 62 mph in 5.0 seconds, with a 121 mph top speed. The Dual Motor's 375 kW (496 hp) cuts that to 3.2 seconds and raises the top speed to 125 mph. Launch control is standard. Reviewers enjoy the instant electric shove, but the car's weight shows in tight corners, and it is more of a fast grand tourer than a featherweight sports car.
## Interior and space
Inside, a wraparound three-screen cockpit surrounds the driver, with a separate 7-inch touchscreen low in the centre console. The driving position is fairly high, so taller drivers may find headroom tight with the roof up. The boot holds 249 litres – enough for a couple of soft bags.
## Technology and safety
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is an eight-speaker Bose sound system. The Single Motor rides on 19-inch alloys and the Dual Motor on 20-inch wheels. Some testers find the multi-screen layout confusing at first. MG's seven-year, 80,000-mile warranty applies.
## Who is it for?
Drivers who want an attention-grabbing electric convertible with real performance and a usable range. There are few direct electric rivals, so it is often compared with the Porsche 718 Boxster, BMW Z4 and Mazda MX-5.
