About the IM6
The IM6 is the SUV-coupé sibling of the IM5, from SAIC's premium IM brand and sold through MG dealers in the UK. It shares the saloon's 800-volt hardware but adds a higher driving position and a bigger boot. Prices start at £48,495 for the Long Range, with Performance and Launch Edition versions above it.
## Battery, range and charging
All UK versions use a 100 kWh battery. The rear-drive Long Range has an official range of up to 388 miles, while the dual-motor cars are rated at around 313 miles. Thanks to the 800-volt system, a 10–80% charge takes about 17 minutes on a 350 kW charger.
## Performance and driving
The Long Range has a 300 kW (408 PS) motor and does 0–62 mph in 5.4 seconds. The Performance and Launch Edition use two motors with a combined 751 hp, cutting that to 3.5 seconds. Four-wheel steering is standard, shrinking the turning circle to 10.18 metres, and Intelligent Comfort Stop smooths out the end of each braking manoeuvre. It can tow up to 1,500 kg.
## Interior and space
The 665-litre boot is backed up by a 32-litre front boot and hidden underfloor storage, and folding the rear seats takes capacity to around 1,640 litres. Rear passengers get adjustable backrests and a panoramic glass roof, while double-glazed side windows keep things quiet. Heated and ventilated leather-style seats are standard.
## Technology and safety
A 26.3-inch ultra-wide screen spans the dashboard, with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and phone charging. One-Touch iAD can park and manoeuvre the car automatically, and Rainy Night Mode recreates nearby pedestrians and vehicles on screen when visibility is poor. Reviewers rate the comfort and refinement but find the touchscreen-based controls frustrating.
## Who is it for?
Buyers who want a fast-charging, long-range electric SUV with a premium feel and more pace than they need. Key rivals are the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6 and Audi Q4 e-tron.
