Overview

The Omoda E5 (from £33,065) is the top version of the Omoda Omoda 5, an electric SUV. It offers a claimed range of 267 miles, 211 hp and 0–62 mph in 7.2 s.

The Omoda E5 is the fully electric version of the Omoda 5. It has a closed-off front end with a smooth panel in place of the diamond grille. A 2026 update gave it a longer range and faster charging. The UK range has two trims: Knight at £33,065 and Noble at £34,565.

Battery, range and charging

The 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery is supplied by CATL and has about 59 kWh usable. It gives an official WLTP range of 267 miles. Omoda quotes a 30–80% DC rapid charge in 28 minutes, and Electrifying.com reports a peak of around 130 kW. An 11 kW on-board AC charger is standard. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) lets you power appliances from the car.

Performance and driving

A single motor on the front axle produces 211 PS and 288 Nm. Omoda's tech data gives 0–62 mph in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 106 mph. There are Eco, Normal and Sport modes. Testers say the updated car is quiet and relaxed on the motorway, but it is not much fun on a twisty road. Early versions were criticised for their ride and regenerative braking.

Interior and space

The E5 is 4,424 mm long, with a wheelbase 20 mm longer than the petrol car's. Omoda lists the boot as 370 litres. As there is no fuel tank, the E5 also gets a boot 12 V socket and a V2L outlet. Both trims have synthetic leather sports seats, and the Noble adds ventilated front seats, a heated wheel and multi-colour ambient lighting.

Technology and safety

The twin 12.3-inch curved screens include connected sat-nav, along with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a cooled 50 W wireless charger. Adaptive cruise, emergency lane keeping, blind-spot warning and driver monitoring are all standard. The Omoda 5 range has a five-star Euro NCAP rating. The car has a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, and the battery is covered for eight years/100,000 miles.

Who is it for?

The E5 is a low-cost family-sized electric crossover with strong standard equipment and a long warranty. It is worth considering if you want an electric car at a similar price to a well-specified petrol SUV. It competes with the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3 and Kia Niro EV.
