BYD executive vice-president Stella Li said the company is considering a factory in France. Mass production at its plant in Szeged, Hungary, is expected to start this quarter.

Xpeng has completed a first trial build of its G9L SUV at Magna’s plant in Graz, Austria — the fourth Xpeng model assembled in Europe after the G6, G9 and P7+.

European production matters for the EU, where locally built cars avoid the extra duties on China-built EVs. UK buyers may see more Europe-built Chinese cars as a result.
