Xiaomi announced at the IFA show in Berlin that it will start selling electric cars in Europe in 2027. Germany comes first: Xiaomi has signed agreements with eight dealer groups there and runs an R&D centre in Munich.

In the EU, Xiaomi is likely to face the highest extra duty on China-built EVs, 35.3%, because it did not take part in the 2023 anti-subsidy investigation. The UK has no such duty, but Xiaomi has not confirmed right-hand-drive cars.
